The need for safe, secure, fresh vegetables and fruit daily, all year round, has never been greater. As the global population increases, food security concerns have risen significantly. While the Covid-19 pandemic decreased the likelihood of vulnerable populations’ access to sufficient food sources, overall percentage of the U.S. population facing food insecurity from 2019 to 2020 remained unchanged; however, during the pandemic and in the subsequent years, roughly four in ten people experienced food insecurity for the first time, resulting in a 60% increase in use of food banks.
With traditional agriculture being affected by climate change, political upheaval, disease, and resource erosion, food supply across the globe is being negatively affected, and controlled environment agriculture is being increasingly known as “the future of farming”.
